For gastric cancer in the United States the therapeutic questions under discussion continue to include the extent of primary resection, including the extent of lymphadenectomy; the efficacy of postoperative radiation, including concurrent chemotherapy or radiation or both as adjuvant treatment; the potential benefit of immediate postoperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy; and more recently, the potential benefit of neoadjuvant or induction chemotherapy, with or without radiation ( J ENiederhuber ).
